Catering Assistant

Location: Merlewood Care Home, Hollow Lane, Virginia Water GU25 4LR

£11.44 per hour 

Hours – 5 days out of 7. Two shifts a week 12pm-7.30pm the rest either 7am-2.30pm or 8am- 3.30pm

Merlewood is a residential and nursing care home catering for up to 53 residents. As a Catering Assistant, you will assist the Chef in the general running of the kitchen from preparation of some food to the washing of dishes as well as service to residents and guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • To assist the Chef in some food preparation as directed
  • Serve food and beverages to residents and guests
  • Assist with collection and washing up of cutlery, crockery and kitchen equipment
  • Ensure the dining room is set for each meal service
  • Ensure that a good standard of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained throughout the kitchen that meets the Company standards
  • Ensure all stock ordered is consistent with planned menus that reflect choice and preference
  • Ensure that all machines are used correctly, cleaned and stored. Any faults or damage is to be reported immediately
  • Ensuring the correct storage and rotation of stocks
  • Ensuring compliance with all food hygiene, health and safety and COSHH regulations as outlined by the Company
