What you’ll be doing

As a Day Care Assistant at Tendring Meadows Residential Care Home you will be responsible for providing person centred care to residents some of whom are living with dementia.

Your duties will include but are not limited to, assisting them to get up in the morning, assisting residents to dining rooms and serving meals, carrying out personal care and toileting as per the residents care plan and assisting them to bed at night.

You will be expected to keep accurate records throughout.

Being a Care Assistant doesn’t just mean helping residents to remain as active and independent as possible while respecting their rights of choice, privacy and dignity. It means having fun and laughter with them and using your skills to help them deal with day-to-day difficulties like personal care – assisting them to get up in the morning and going to bed in the evening, meal times including assisting them during meal times. It also means working as part of a team to identify their unique goals and implement personalised care plans.

Our shift patterns are 6 or 12 hours from 8am to 8pm (Day Care Assistants will be expected to work alternate weekends)

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Experience of caring would be beneficial but not essential
  • More important though is your kind-hearted nature
  • Belief in teamwork and your ability to use your initiative and imagination
  • Follow instructions and prioritise a busy workload
  • Comfortable taking to and working with people from different professions
  • Natural ability to help make lives of others more fulfilling
