We are looking for a dedicated Weekend Cook/ Chef to join our team at Neva Manor Care Home. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, home-cooked breakfast, dinner and tea time snacks including sandwiches to our lovely service users while adhering to strict food safety and hygiene requirements. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys cooking in a caring and supportive setting.
Responsibilities include planning, preparing, and cooking meals based on resident dietary needs and the specified menu with our Head Cook.
Ensure that meals are balanced, nutritional, and visually appealing.
Adapt meals for residents with special dietary requirements (e.g., soft diets, allergies, cultural preferences).
Maintain a clean and organised kitchen while following all food hygiene and safety laws.
Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and reducing food waste.
Collaborate with care home workers to ensure the residents' requirements are satisfied.
Follow the necessary food storage and kitchen cleaning measures.
Requirements:
Previous experience as a cook, preferably in a
caring home, healthcare facility, or hotel.
Understanding of food safety, cleanliness rules, and nutritional needs.
Ability to work independently and efficiently.
A friendly and empathetic demeanour, with a dedication to resident well-being.
Ability to work weekends and cover the head cooks shifts if needed.
Food Hygiene Certificate (recommended or willing to earn).
