Activity Coordinator

RESPONSIBILITIES:

§  To assist with the promotion of mental and physical activities for residents through the key worker system: by talking to them, taking them out and engaging in activities with them such as reading, writing, hobbies, and recreation

§  To produce a weekly programme of activities and social events for groups of residents and for individuals and to ensure it is advertised within the Home and communicated to all residents

§  To consult with the residents/resident’s families in order to identify individuals’ social and recreational requirements according to their likes/dislikes, abilities, and personal preferences

§  To ensure all activities are documented and Person-Centered Activity Care Plans are updated and reviewed

§  To ensure all residents receive some form of social activity and support each week and residents receive one to one time where necessary

§  To liaise with relatives and staff regarding special individual requirements, such as birthdays and anniversaries, cultural and religious festivals, and celebrations and to be aware of the religious calendar that may affect activities

§  To assist and support residents at mealtimes as required, ensuring the appropriate equipment is available and the ambience is conducive to a relaxed environment

§  To ensure that the programme of activities is within the budget allocated by Home and to maintain an appropriate stock of equipment for activities

§  To book external suppliers, when needed, to provide entertainment

§  To organise trips out in the local community, where appropriate, considering transport arrangements and accessibility

§  To ensure privacy and dignity is always maintained

§  To ensure confidentiality of all residents’ records

§  To receive supervision as arranged by the Registered Home Manager, as appropriate

§  To adhere to policies and procedures within the Home and the Organisation

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, Activities Coordinators are required to perform other duties assigned by the Registered Home Manager from time to time
