Job Advert: Chef/Cook – Maternity Cover with Possibility of Permanent Role

Are you an experienced and passionate chef or cook looking for a rewarding role in a care home setting? We are currently seeking a dedicated Chef/Cook to join our team and cover a maternity leave, with the possibility of a permanent position for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook nutritious, delicious meals for residents in line with dietary needs and preferences.
  • Ensure all food is prepared in a safe and hygienic manner, adhering to food safety regulations.
  • Assist in menu planning and food ordering.
  • Provide high-quality service to residents in a respectful and friendly manner.
  • Work closely with other team members to maintain a smooth and efficient kitchen environment.

About You:

  • Proven experience in a kitchen environment, ideally within a care home or similar setting.
  • Ability to prepare meals that meet individual dietary needs (e.g., allergies, vegetarian, and other specific requirements).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A passion for cooking and providing excellent service.
  • Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene qualification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Job Skills/Qualifications: Proven experience as a Chef or Cook
  • preferably within a care home
  • hospital
  • or similar environment. Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
  • with a Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene qualification (or willingness to obtain). Ability to cater to a variety of dietary needs and preferences
  • including special diets (e.g.
  • diabetic
  • vegetarian
  • soft food). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • with the ability to work effectively in a team. Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Ability to work independently
  • demonstrating initiative and attention to detail. Passion for cooking and a genuine interest in enhancing the well-being of care home residents. Knowledge of portion control and cost management within a kitchen setting is advantageous.
