Maintenance Worker / Gardener based at Fitzwarren House, Swindon

Permanent Part time 20 hours per week (Set days Tuesday, Thursday & Friday

About the role

As a Maintenance Worker / Gardener at MHA you will join our team and work within the Home to create a safe and attractive environment that enable us to give our residents the quality care and support they deserve. Duties will be varied and include being responsible for completing a wide variety of gardening and maintenance tasks.

Specific duties will include planned preventative work and safety checks, as well as running repairs and the supervision of outside contractors. This is a satisfying role for an individual who can demonstrate practical skills in maintenance, gardening, painting and decorating as well as respect for older people.

About you

  • You will have a friendly caring manner and maintain our buildings and gardens to the highest possible standards, creating positive first impressions and making a difference to the lives of our residents.
  • You will play a key role resolving any repair issues.
  • Be able to turn your hand to a wide variety of jobs, from decorating to ground and plant maintenance.
  • You will be able to work well as part of a team but also use your own initiative.
  • Have the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Be able to liaise with contractors, volunteers and other staff
  • You will have a positive attitude to Health & Safety
