We are seeking an Enthusiastic and motivated Full Time Activities Coordinator.
As the Activities Coordinator, you will play a vital role in enhancing the lives of our residents through meaningful engagement, creative planning, and inclusive activities. You will be responsible for designing and delivering a varied programme of activities tailored to the interests, abilities, and needs of each individual.
In addition, you will support the wider care team by assisting with personal care and other general duties when needed. This dual role ensures the smooth running of the home and upholds our commitment to person-centred, compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities
Activities Planning and Delivery
Design and implement a weekly activities schedule that offers a wide variety of options to stimulate the mind, body, and spirit of residents. This may include arts and crafts, reminiscence therapy, musical sessions, physical activity, games, gardening, outings, themed events, and celebrations.
Ensure activities are planned throughout the year, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, to provide consistent engagement.
Consult with residents, relatives, and staff to tailor activities to individual preferences, cultural needs, and ability levels.
Facilitate one-to-one activities for residents who may not wish to join group sessions or who have limited mobility.
Evaluate and record participation and feedback to continually improve the activities programme.
Care Support (as required)
Assist with general care duties such as helping residents with mobility, nutrition and hydration, toileting, and personal hygiene when needed.
Work in partnership with the care team to promote residents’ wellbeing and dignity at all times.
Observe and report any changes in residents’ physical or emotional condition to the appropriate senior staff.
Teamwork and Communication
Liaise with families, friends, volunteers, and community groups to build positive relationships and encourage involvement.
Collaborate with the care team to identify residents who may benefit from extra emotional or cognitive support through activity engagement.
Promote a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the home, encouraging resident participation and supporting new admissions in settling in.
Health & Safety
Ensure all activities are risk assessed and safe for participation.
Comply with infection control, safeguarding, and fire safety procedures at all times.
Use appropriate moving and handling techniques when supporting residents.
Record Keeping and Administration
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of activity attendance, preferences, outcomes, and progress.
Prepare monthly reports and contribute to care planning and review meetings as needed.
Manage activity resources, supplies, and budgets responsibly.
Other Duties
Support in communal dining and refreshments where needed.
Assist with housekeeping tasks or general home operations in exceptional circumstances.
Undertake training and development as required by the home and CQC regulations.
Person Specification
Essential
A genuine passion for working with older people.
Creative and enthusiastic with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work flexibly across a 7-day rota, including weekends and bank holidays.
Good organisational and time-management skills.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to assist with care duties when required.
Basic IT skills for activity planning and record keeping.
Desirable
Previous experience in a similar role or within a care home environment.
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or related field.
Training in dementia awareness, manual handling, safeguarding, or similar areas.
Access to local community contacts, entertainers, or activity providers.
Full UK driving licence (if the role involves occasional outings).
