Groveland Park is a 55 bed Luxury purpose built Residential care home rated Outstanding. We are looking for a Maintenance Manager with pride and passion to join our fantastic team. To manage the maintenance/driver to ensure that complainace is mainatianed and the home is keot to the exceptional standard of decoration.  To ensure that at all times residents are treated with respect and dignity and that individual’s rights to privacy, dignity, independence and choices are met. To ensure that the company’s mission statement and core values are carried through all aspects of resident care.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to maintain the appearance of the Home to the highest possible standards and to ensure
Health and Safety regulations are adhered to at all times.

Although the actual job is fundamentally an individual role, you are an essential member of the home team and will be interacting and communicating on a regular basis with colleagues and Residents along with outside contractors.

To carry out repairs and maintenance tasks within the individual’s
capability in all areas of the Home as requested by employees and
the Home Manager.

  • To understand and meet statutory and legal requirements such as
  • Food Safety, Health and Safety, COSHH, Fire Safety, to maintain a safe environment throughout the Care Home.
  • To walk the home daily, identify any problems and carry out
  • specific maintenance and regular safety checks, including weekly fire equipment, lift and tests, keeping accurate, up to date records of the checks. Reporting any deficiencies to the Home Manager and deal with repairs etc as appropriate.
  • Create a preventative maintenance programme of weekly,

monthly, quarterly, 6 monthly and annual works.

  • To respect residents at all times, especially their individual right to
  • privacy, dignity and choice, incorporating residents’ needs and requirements into your work routine so that The home is pleasant to both live and work.
  • To liaise with the Home Manager ensuring the Care Home is
  • maintained in good decorative order, the home environment is comfortable, friendly and has a ‘homely’ feel for the Residents.
  • Obtain authorisation for all expenditure from the Home Manager.
  • To liaise with external contractors entering the Home when
  • carrying out authorised work to ensure that all requirements relating to Health and Safety and the Care Standards Act legislation are fully met.
  • To carry out practical training with the team with regards to fire

(walk round etc)

  • To maintain the grounds, garden areas and fire access, keeping
  • them in neat and tidy condition and to oversee any garden

contractors.

  • To inspect the plant room (boilers), as well as the dishwashers,
  • clothes dryers, etc and report any deficiencies.
  • To ensure that tool and equipment safety are in proper working
  • order and stored correctly so as not to cause any interference with residents and visitors.
  • To ensure the correct uniform and person protection equipment
  • are worn.
  • Maintain a work order log/system to be able to track repairs and
  • outstanding work within the Home.
  • Participate in the emergency and disaster plans for the home.
  • Have a certain amount of flexibility for unexpected emergencies at
  • out of office times.
  • Oversee the management of the Maintenance assistant to

ensure he is supervised, trained and has formal supervision bye-

monthly.

  • To be approachable and interactive with colleagues, contributing
  • to team meetings and helping team members as appropriate. Ensure that The home is a friendly and supportive caring environment.
  • All concerns regarding possible abuse of a vulnerable adult must

be reported immediately, to the person in charge, who will report

to board of directors.

  • Drive the chauffer driven car/mini bus when requested and

ensure that its checked and well maintained at all times

  • Ensure the senor staff on duty have an up to date list of contractors and what they do and are aware where the mains switches/stop cocks etc are and no what to do.
  • Share on call duties with the Maintenance assistant.

Person Specification

Experience in DIY and gardening.

Basic numeracy and good record keeping skills.

Basic Health and Safety knowledge.

Good communication skills.

Approachable and friendly, able to work in a team.

Ability to work unsupervised, able to plan and prioritise own workload.

Qualifications in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, decorating. Health and Safety (desirable).

Excellent organisation.

Good personal hygiene.

Can lead a team by example
