We’re looking for a practical, proactive, and reliable Maintenance Person to join our dedicated team at St John's Nursing Home.

About the Role:

As our Maintenance Operative, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our nursing home remains a safe, comfortable, and well-presented environment for residents, staff, and visitors. From minor repairs to routine checks and general upkeep, your work will support the smooth running of the home and contribute to the overall wellbeing of our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out day-to-day maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and general repair work

  • Conduct regular checks and inspections to ensure safety, hygiene, and compliance with health & safety regulations

  • Maintain external areas, including gardens and walkways

  • Liaise with contractors and service providers when needed

  • Keep maintenance records up-to-date

  • Respond promptly to repair requests from staff or management

About You:

  • Experience in a maintenance or caretaker role is preferred

  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrics, joinery, and general repairs

  • A hands-on, problem-solving approach and a good eye for detail

  • Friendly and respectful, with a commitment to working safely around older people

  • Organised and able to manage your own workload

  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures and compliance standards is an advantage

  • Driving licence (preferred but not essential)
