Head of People

As the Head of People at Athena Care Homes, you will be responsible for leading our People strategy across the organisation.

About the role:

Reporting to the CEO, the Head of People will be responsible for overseeing HR, Resourcing and Learning & Development. You will lead on initiatives involving employee relations, recruitment, retention and CQC compliance whilst working towards the Athena vision; “we want to be the first choice for high quality dementia, nursing and residential care, leaving a positive legacy within our communities”.

Salary:
Competitive.

Shift Pattern:
37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Location:
Central Office, Russel House, Basildon, Essex, SS15 6TF. You will be expected to travel to all 7 care home locations in accordance with your role. 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Oversee HR policies, systems, and processes to ensure consistency and compliance with all relevant employment legislation and CQC regulations.
• Provide strategic HR advice and support to the CEO and senior leadership team.
• Line management of the HR, Resourcing and Learning & Development team.
• Champion a culture of inclusivity, well-being, and professional development.

Training, Skills & Experience Required:

• CIPD Level 7 (or equivalent) qualification or equivalent level of experience.
• Proven senior HR leadership experience, ideally within the health or social care sector.
• In-depth knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
• Strong strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to HR delivery.
