Thieves have broken into the offices of Age UK and stolen scarves, hats and gloves which had been donated to give to the elderly as part of its Winter Warmth campaign.
Hundreds of scarves, hats and gloves had been donated and were in the process of being packed up and sent out to some of the most vulnerable people in Cheshire.
The thieves also stole seven laptops, a printer and projecter, during the break in at the offices of Age UK Cheshire.
The laptops had been donated to Age UK Cheshire as part of a social enterprise project to get unemployed people over 50 back to work, and the charity fears the project may now have to fold.
Jan Hutflesz, head of business and marketing said: ‘This is completely devastating. We all work so hard in helping to support older people in our community and for this to happen is such a blow, especially as times are already so difficult. At present, we just don’t know when the project will be able to continue.’
Age UK Cheshire has set up an appeal asking for cash donations so the equipment can be replaced. If you are able to help, please call 01606 305000
