Southfield Road, Mansfield is the site of a pioneering care initiative that has been made possible by the collaboration of Barchester Healthcare and Nottinghamshire Healthcare.

The former site of The Forest, will now be redeveloped in order to achieve person-centred support for a number of specialist care needs, as the providers draw upon their expertise in order to achieve an effective care residence for individuals with an early onset of dementia, for adults with Huntingdon’s disease and also for alcohol-related brain injuries.

This state-of-the-art development is an example of an independent care provider recognising the advantage of joining forces with an integrated public service provider. Barchester currently operate more than 200 facilities nationwide as the UK’s fourth largest care home owner and are keen to pursue more innovative developments during what promises to be a decade of great transformation for the sector.

Commenting on the initiative, chief executive Mike Parsons said, ‘Developing a service that draws on good practice from the public and independent sector is something that we are keen to explore. Our new services will reflect local needs and continue to promote Barchester’s reputation for delivering high quality services and person-centred care in the best possible care environments.’

Construction on the new development is due for completion before the end of the year and is being carried out by design and build specialists Castleoak, who have recently completed another care home for Barchester in the shape of Juniper House, in Bicester.
