Anchor Trust's newest care home has attracted the attention of construction students who have this week been welcomed to a guided tour of the three cluster buildings that make up the state-of-the-art West Hall.

Currently approaching its latter stages of development and due to welcome its first residents in the summer, West Hall in West Byfleet is under construction from GB Buildings after being green-lit thanks to a £30m investment from care home provider Anchor Trust.

Designed to help older people with care needs to achieve a fulfilling daily lifestyle, West Hall’s three oval buildings have undulating grass roofs, a selection of versatile bedrooms that can be tailored to the needs of each user, and a selection of communal areas. Further to care provision, the site also includes a hair salon, bistro and library to help service users achieve a more flexible standard of daily living.

Together with pioneering a new care philosophy and the furthering of available care accommodation in Surrey, the development has also brought a welcome jobs boost to the area, with Anchor expected to employ up to 266 workers who will look after the needs of a potential 117 customers.

Commenting on West Hall’s qualities this week, development manager Hardev Thandy said: ‘This pioneering environment was been designed with Anchor’s person-centred philosophy at its core.

‘West Hall will be one of Anchor’s flagship developments and represents a major investment in our portfolio, and enables Anchor to meet its customers’ demanding and changing needs.’

With more expansions ahead, Anchor will soon be closing in on their one-hundredth care home and remain firmly positioned among the major UK care providers.
