The prestigious ISO 9001 accreditation has been awarded to the Devon and Cornwall-based Stonehaven Care Group, whose seven residential homes were found to be compliant with recognised standards of staff professionalism.
Although not exclusive to Stonehaven within the care sector, the ISO 9001 award is a notable achievement for a small provider that runs seven care homes and employs around 150 staff.
On deciding to pursue the accreditation, the management found there were only minor issues with its compliance potential that, over the course of 12 months, were convincingly met by hard-working carers.
Internationally recognised, the ISO 9001 award signals a long-term commitment to a first class service, with the provider’s management having targeted achieving and maintaining the award, subject to annual assessments, as its ultimate goal.
Chair and managing director of Stonehaven, Stephen Stone, praised the company’s sense of ambition for the achievement: ‘Already being aware that ISO 9001 certification is generally recognised as an, almost uniquely, highly stringent accreditation we decided that we must set our sights that high and try for it.
‘In summary, we are absolutely delighted to have found that we were already very nearly at ISO 9001 standard and even more delighted to strive that bit more and obtain certification at our first attempt. I am very happy indeed knowing that the ISO 9001 process has made a very good company even better.’
A family-run business formed in 1998, Stonehaven Care Group focuses on personalised and interactive care packages carried out in properties that are either purpose-built or purposely converted for the practice of skilled and efficient care.
