South England care provider Colten Care are currently assembling the team that will carrying out care provision at latest development, St Catherine’s View, in Winchester.
The fifty-six capacity nursing home has cost £8m and will specialise in dementia care, consisting of fifty-six en-suite bedrooms, a number of purpose-built additions ideal for sensitive mental health, including themed activity rooms and reminiscence therapy.
St Catherine’s View is to be Colten Care’s nineteenth residential home and extends the provider’s presence in Hampshire, with care homes also located in Dorset and Wiltshire.
New appointment Ann-Marie Medd (pictured above), will manage the home’s 80 care staff when the accommodation opens in May, although interested and potential clients are welcome to visit the home throughout April and see for themselves the many homely and modern qualities of the development.
Commenting of her appointment, Mrs Medd said: ‘We’ve already appointed a number of very skilled care staff including registered nurses with experience in caring for people living with dementia. It’s a privilege to be taking the reins. It’s not often that you are given the opportunity to be in at the start of something like this. I will really enjoy building a great team, working well together.’
The Alzheimer’s Society last month confirmed a significant rise in the numbers of people suffering from dementia, with an ageing population meaning that the availability of care provision from providers like Colten Care are set to become ever more crucial over the next few years and decades.
