The National Care Forum has commissioned the Institute of Public Care to produce a series of three papers that will give an overview and practical examples from National Care Forum members on the distinctive contribution made by not-for-profit providers to social care services.
Leading the Way – the first paper - focuses on the workforce and covers aspects of recruitment, employment, development and training. It uses case studies to acknowledge the innovative ways NCF members work to improve quality for people receiving care and support. It identifies how valuing staff helps them to provide better care.
Des Kelly OBE, NCF executive director said: ‘Every report on standards in care services highlights the importance of people and the way they are treated. This short paper demonstrates the ways that the best providers are putting such principles into practice.
‘It shows that a clear vision and value base, alongside creativity and commitment, are vital. By supporting staff through on-going training and qualifications, satisfaction can be enhanced to inspire and motivate staff to do their best. We want to show how NCF members are leading the way on workforce matters in ways that directly improve the provision of care and support.’
