The Balhousie Care Group have confirmed that stage one of Arbroath care development, Monkbarns Care Home, has been a success, with carers now having welcomed the home’s first residents.
Part of a £5m investment, the Monkbarns development is taking place within the grounds of the former care home of the same name, will be registered for up to sixty-five service users and include a specialist dementia wing.
Phase two of the construction is scheduled for completion by the end of the year, by which time the older property will have been completely demolished.
This latest expansion from the Balhousie Care Group will provide a welcome jobs boost to the local area, with up to fifty new positions expected to be advertised for later in the year, while offering a homely environment for those with care needs, with sea views and secluded courtyards.
Delighted with phase one of the new Monkbarns, care home manager Joyce Chalmers commented on the reaction of the home’s first resident, retired fisherman Bill Smith: ‘Bill has been with us for a few years now and is a well-known figure in the local community, having served his time as a fisherman over the years. It’s great that he was our first resident in the new build and it’s clear he is enjoying the extra comfort which it has provided. Everyone at Monkbarns is looking forward to settling into the new home and the first part of the transition has gone very smoothly.’
Balhousie Care Group currently operate in twenty-four care homes across Scotland, with further expansions planned and developments underway in Dundee and Huntly.
