Work is well underway on PJ Care’s new £10 million neurological care campus in Bretton Way, Peterborough. The first unit, pool and therapy centre are due to open in June.

Other units at Eagle Wood, the purpose built campus, will open over the following 24 months offering four independent care units with extra-large bedrooms and corridors, social areas, coffee bar and gardens. It will also offer a state of the art therapy centre with a hydrotherapy spa pool, gym and occupational therapy area. A day opportunities centre will be opening on the site towards the end of the year.

As residents move into Eagle Wood, PJ Care will eventually employ 180 people over a 15 month period. The company has been overwhelmed by the response to their initial recruitment drive. Since beginning the recruitment process for phase one of the site, the company has received 2,000 applications and they are looking to fill 22 positions for the opening of the first of four independent units.

Angela Johnson, HR manager for PJ Care said: “The response in Peterborough has been overwhelming to our recruitment campaign for Eagle Wood.

“Those who have applied should not feel despondent with the figures, all relevant applications will be held on file and considered for the following 160 positions and we are committed, skills dependant, on filling at least 90% of these places with people from the local community.”

PJ Care is still looking for unit managers for Eagle Wood.
