Care home provider Avery Healthcare continues to grow its portfolio, having opened a new facility in Stoke-on-Trent in the shape of Hanford Court Care Home, on Bankhouse Road.

Purpose-built to suit both residential and dementia care needs, Hanford Court cost £3.5m and had brought the local community a welcome jobs boost, employing 70 people.

The turreted building offers care provision from a spacious interior, with impressive views looking out over Stoke-on-Trent. Residents will also gain many hours of pleasure from the landscaped gardens and courtyard, while the service is committed to hotel-style dining and a versatile recreation programme.

Avery Healthcare owners feel passionately that care services should strive to achieve a more positive image of care and has won awards for the innovation its care homes have incorporated into their design features.

Home manager Lorraine Ford, who was awarded the Care Marketer Award 2010 at the Care Professional Benevolent Fund (CPBF) Awards, commented on how the home aims to improve the lifestyles of older people:

“We have already welcomed several residents to Hanford Court who are enjoying the community lifestyle which we offer. Avery has a superb reputation for delivering first class care and so new homes always generate a lot of interest. We ran a rigorous local recruitment programme and are pleased to have appointed a highly skilled team of professionals and support staff to work with us here. The home is simply stunning, beautifully appointed, with a team of professionals who really can help improve the quality of life of residents.”

Ms Ford also reached out to the local community, saying: “We are keen to talk to any schools or organisations that may like to visit us here. It’s an exciting opportunity for local people to see first-hand how care homes today can and should be operated.”

Looking to prove its credentials for innovation even further, Avery Healthcare has recently launched its own Youth Apprenticeship Scheme in order to offers qualifications and quality mentoring for young carers.
