Residential and nursing care provider the Greensleeves Homes Trust have announced the completion of a new build and major refurbishment programme at The Briars Care Home, on the Isle of Wight.
Six comfortable bedrooms are available in the new build, which also has its own lounge, kitchen and dining area, with three other bedrooms having undergone significant refurbishment in order to pioneer more flexible care provision.
The Briars is one of the provider’s ‘Eden Alternative’ homes, set up to specialise in preventing older and vulnerable members of the community becoming isolated or lonely through promoting companionship.
The work will enable The Briars to offer a more versatile care service, including personalised respite care on a session basis. Home manager Fiona O’Regan explains:
“The Briars will now be able to operate a service for carers and relatives who may need a temporary break in the day or evening – perhaps to attend a health, work or social engagement or just to have a little respite. They can rest assured that their loved ones are being cared for, having a meal, enjoying the gardens and any activities if they so wish. They can come anytime that suits for four hours or more up to 9.00 p.m. in the evening.”
The Greensleeves Homes Trust currently runs seventeen care homes, located in Southern and Eastern England, and the Midlands.
