This September will see the National Association of Care Catering (NACC) gather with care caterers at the 2012 National Training & Development Forum, taking place from the 19th to the 21st September, to mark the 25th anniversary since the industry body was formed.
“The NACC National Training & Development Forum is always a highlight and a vital date on the care catering industry calendar. This year the event is set to be immense. The 25th anniversary of our association is a true milestone to be honoured and celebrated. Over the past quarter of a century the association and its members have worked tirelessly to continually improve standards in care catering and protect the vulnerable people entrusted to our care. Together we have overcome huge obstacles, succeeded in highlighting fundamental issues, promoted excellence, and become the leader, authority and benchmark for best practice across the sector. From humble beginnings back in 1987, our incredible evolution and ground-breaking achievements are certainly a cause for celebration and festivity.
“Of course, the challenges and issues facing the care catering sector continue to exist, and the forum will, as always, provide delegates with the battle-armour they need to continue to succeed and improve. Through a winning combination of relevant, educational and challenging presentations, workshops, networking sessions and exhibition we will offer delegates the information and skills they need to manage and embrace the continual changes and developments in our industry. A real value of the forum is that it gives care caterers the time and tools to take stock and prepare for the year ahead in the spirit of advancing excellence and instilling best practice across the sector.”
The event has enabled care catering professionals to meet over the years and discuss service solutions, developments and skills, with numerous workshops and networking opportunities available, as well as motivational speakers.
This year sees a special demonstration by Care Cook of the Year, Ellie Cook, as well as ‘parallel training workshops’ and a ‘focused supplier exhibition’, all designed to help professionals further their catering knowledge and refine their abilities to achieve best practice.
Key topics for discussion include how to achieve positive outcomes in dementia care, how to tackle undernutrition in the workplace, and how to make the most of interactive toolkits to encourage a healthy diet.
The NACC emerged in 1987, having originally been formed as the Advisory Body for Social Service Catering, and quickly evolved into a nationally-active authority that contributes to Government policy and care catering aspirations.
