High profile conference on dementia nearly sold out

The conference 'Dementia – A National Crisis' is nearly sold out, according to organisers.

The event which is being held on 4 October at Manchester Conference Centre is for anyone involved with or affected by dementia who wants to find out the latest developments.

An array of expert speakers will outline the challenges faced in combating this spiralling condition and how better outcomes can be achieved.

Speakers include Andrew Chidgey, director of external affairs at the Alzheimer's Society, Professor Alistair Burns, national clinical director for dementia at the Department of Health, Martin Green, chief executive of English Community Care Association and Erik Karran, director of research at Alzheimers Research UK.

Topics to be discussed at the conference range from making dementia a national priority and what's new on the research front to improving care and improving quality of life.

The conference will also feature Ann Johnson, a resident at Sunrise Community of Hale Barns. She will give a moving account and insight as to what it means to live with dementia and how it is not just the patient that it affects.
