Midlands and North of England based Ideal Care Homes have opened a new, state-of-the-art care facility in Castleford, with the help of the Deputy Mayor of Wakefield and councillor Brian Holmes, who turned up to see the home welcome its first resident, Mrs Mary Northern.

Councillor Holmes commented, “It was a pleasure to visit Newfield Lodge again and I was especially delighted to meet Mrs Northern as the first resident. I hope she will be very happy in her new home.”

Mrs Mary Northern has lived in Hightown, Castleford, all her life and aims to continue with her hobbies of knitting and dancing during her time at Newfield Lodge, with visits from her son Ken.

Chairman of Ideal Care Homes, Lawrence Tomlinson said, “We aim to ensure that Ideal Care Homes are an integral part of the community and having the Deputy Mayor visit Newfield Lodge to welcome our first resident was a great event for the home. It was really appreciated that Councillor Holmes took so much time with the people who live and work with us.”

Newfield Lodge is the first of several new accommodations being opened by Ideal Care Homes this year, with three more facilities approaching their final stages of construction at Newcastle-under-Lyme, Newark and Leicester.

A healthy programme of expansion, meaning the provider now runs thirty-two care homes, has also seen the company become successful in securing an Investors in People gold standard at the first attempt – confirmed earlier this month.

Ideal Care Homes work in partnership with LNT Construction who, since 1990, have worked to produce innovative properties for the care sector.
