Scotland-based residential care provider Balhousie Care Group are looking forward to opening their twenty-seventh care home, with construction going well at a 60-capacity development in Huntly, Aberdeenshire.

The care home and sheltered housing accommodation will be the provider’s second in the county, after Balhousie Alastrean Care Home, in Tarland, and is being built by Muirfield (Contracts) Ltd with the aim of welcoming its first residents in November.

Costing £5.1m, the Deveron Road home is not the only major expansion by Balhousie Care Group this year, who also took over Brookfield Residential Home, Carnoustie, back in July.

The new development will specialise in nursing, residential and dementia care, featuring bedroom wings built around a spacious courtyard, quality living and dining areas and secure gardens, together with six sheltered living bungalows designed to support an independent lifestyle for individuals with lesser care needs.

Tony Banks, chairman and founder of BCG, said: “We decided to build a home in Huntly after identifying a number of gaps in local care home provision, so this new development is an exciting addition to our group and will offer both nursing and residential care.

“This is our 27th home and by the time it is full it will have created around 60 jobs for Huntly, ranging from managers and nursing staff to domestic and care assistants, as well as providing a major boost for the local construction industry as a result of Balhousie Care Group’s investment.

“We understand that choosing a care home can be a difficult decision but this new home will allow us to provide an extremely high level of comfort for residents as well as offering the expected standards of excellence in residential care.”
