Lord Julian Fellowes, writer of the hit TV series, Downton Abbey, has officially opened the revamped Care South care home.
Beauchamp Country House Care, in Hatch Beauchamp, Taunton, which has now got 54 beds with full ensuite facilities, has been extended and refurbished after a two-year building programme.
The manor has seen extensions providing two new wings, as well as a series of refurbishments to the main house.
Julian Fellowes, whose period drama attracts 10m viewers a week, said: “I am delighted to be invited to this wonderful place and to meet some of those already enjoying the security and comfort of this charming building.
"We are all hopeful that in our latter years when we are no longer able to look after ourselves that such an environment will be available to us."
“It has been a great pleasure to be asked to take part in the official opening and I am certain that Care South staff will ensure that many people will spend a great number of very happy days here”.
