Three gold awards have been won by two Barchester Healthcare Ltd employees at The Wales Care Awards.
Emma Price from Barchester’s Sudbury House won two gold awards
Head Chef Andy White at Barchester Llys-y-Tywysog won the ‘Catering in Care Gold Award’ and Emma Price of won the ‘Supported Living Care Practitioner Gold Award’ and the unexpected ‘Dignity in Care Gold Award’, which was voted on by the judges.
Candy Morrison, general manager at Llys-Y-Tywysog care home said: “I am extremely proud of Andy and his team. The residents love traditional cooking and Andy does some wonderful dishes including my favourite creamy cabbage with smoked bacon.
“He cooks more exotic dishes during our themed-days and makes a spectacular buffet that wouldn’t look out of place at The Savoy.”
Catrin Hooper, general manager at Sudbury House said: “Emma has a gift for enriching and transforming the lives of the young residents she cares for. Emma has the golden touch, so it is fitting that she now has two gold awards for her excellent care!"
The Wales Care Awards are an annual event run by Care Forum Wales showcasing best practice across the care sector.
Gwenda Thomas, The Welsh Assembly Government’s deputy minister for health and social services presented the awards.
