Stratford & District Mencap, the Stratford-based charity which supports people with learning disabilities, is to expand and change its name to Heart of England Mencap.
The charity is growing to meet the changing demands of the social care sector and will be providing services into Worcestershire as well as continuing its work in the Warwickshire area.
Interim chief executive, Helena Wallis said, “Our new identity gives a more appropriate vision of who we are as we evolve the next phase of growth for the charity.
“The name, Heart of England, is certainly more relevant and will allow us to communicate more meaningfully with our clients, their families and our healthcare contacts.
“This is a really exciting time in our history and we are looking forward to providing our excellent quality services to more people living with learning disabilities in the future.”
During the summer the charity announced that it had purchased a large property in Evesham, Worcestershire.
This is currently being refurbished and converted to provide a six bedroom short break holiday facility. It is opening in the coming month will be the first under the new Heart of England banner and will provide respite care for people in Worcestershire.
