Former Birmingham City Council head joins leading learning disability care provider

Voyage Care has announced the appointment of former head of employee relations at Birmingham City Council, Donna Williams, as the company’s new head of people management.

The appointment comes as the company look to see through its ‘people first’ vision, which will see Ms Williams leading an 11-strong management team that will focus on developing new and innovative HR strategies.

Chief executive Bruce McKendrick comments: “We want to recruit and retain the best people, at all levels within our business. Donna understands this ambition and her previous experience means she’s well placed to help us achieve it.

“In the last 12 months, Voyage Care has expanded significantly both organically and following the acquisition of 91 Solor Care homes. This has created exciting development opportunities for new and existing staff and Donna will be instrumental in helping people access these.

“Our success depends upon the quality of care we provide and we rely on the committed team of people we have working for us. Donna will be an invaluable addition as we seek to develop and invest further in the ‘people’ side of our business.”

Voyage Care are currently listed as the UK’s fifth largest care home provider, though the company are the largest in the sector that specialises in care solutions for adults with a learning disability, including many complex needs such as autism, neurological disorders, head and spinal injuries.
