Work to expand a purpose built care home in Essex has begun.
The Moat House, in Great Baddow, opened in autumn 2011 and offers residential, nursing and dementia care.
Over the next year 26 one and two bedroom apartments will be built on the site, creating a retirement village. A private clubhouse, exclusively for residents of the new apartments, will also be built.
The expansion of Moat House will be in keeping with other sites also owned by Retirement Villages Group Ltd.
Sarah Burgess, sales and marketing manager, said: “The building work at the Moat House is the next step in development of the site into a retirement village.
“We believe the extension of the Moat House will prove a real bonus to local people, increasing the living options available for them to consider later in life.”
The first residents are expected to move into the apartments next spring.
