Members of the public will have the opportunity to meet their local Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspectors on National Care Home Open Day.
On June 21, hundreds of care homes across the country will open their doors to their local communities and showcase everything that is good about the sector and banish images generated by negative press.
CQC inspectors will spend time at their local care homes, speaking to members of the public about quality of care and advising them on what to look out for when choosing a care home for their family and friends.
Chief executive David Behan said: “Our job is to inspect care homes to make sure they are providing safe, compassionate, high quality care. This is a good opportunity for us to meet the public and listen to what they have to say. We also want to explain more about what we do and the care people have a right to expect.”
National Care Home Open Day is also being backed by care and support minister Norman Lamb, the Alzheimer’s Society, NAPA and the Social Care Institute for Excellence.
