Scotland’s cabinet secretary for health and wellbeing officially opened Four Seasons Health Care’s new care home in Edinburgh yesterday.
Alex Neil MSP was guest of honour at the ceremony at St Margaret’s Care Home, which is built on the site of the former St Margaret’s Independent Girls School.
Four Seasons Health Care has converted and fully-refurbished the Victorian property, creating a welcoming and unique home for residents to live in.
St Margaret’s Care Home, which will provide general and dementia nursing care, has been beautifully decorated in bright colours and landscaped gardens have been created for residents to enjoy. The building also houses and hairdressing and beauty salon, as well as spacious lounges and dining areas.
Opening the home, Mr Neil said: “The Scottish Government is committed to continuing to improve care for the elderly and through robust regulation by the Care Inspectorate we are already driving up the standards in our care homes.
“I am delighted to be opening this fantastic new facility and I’m really looking forward to meeting staff, residents and their families. “With its modern facilities St Margaret’s can provide a caring and homely setting for older people where they are treated with dignity and respect and get the support they need.”
