Care provider Care South spent an evening recognising the achievements of staff at their annual awards ceremony.
Care South is a registered charity organisation which provides both residential and home care to people throughout 18 care homes and three home care offices based in the South of England.
Winners of the care group’s Star Awards were also announced, with two care homes and 11 staff members receiving an award to recognise their innovation, best practice and achievements.
Now in its third year, the Star Awards were presented by members of the Care South executive board to the winners who had been nominated by both colleagues and service users.
Susan Willoughby, chief executive of Care South, said: “We’re very proud of our staff and their hard work and commitment. We regularly see staff going the extra mile to make a real difference to the lives of our residents and service users, so the Stars Awards are a great way for us to say thank you.
“The individuals who are winners and finalists have inspired colleagues, residents and service users with their exceptional performance and we’re very pleased to be able to give them special recognition, alongside those who have obtained qualifications.”
Winners of the Star awards included head chef at Beauchamp House in Taunton, Paula Woodhead, for ‘Chef of the Year’, and Christchurch-based home carer Bruce Law for ‘Home Carer of the Year’.
Pat Britten and the staff of Beauchamp House received the prestigious Chairman’s Award.
A significant number of staff were also celebrated for achieving NVQ and diploma qualifications, with 80 staff completing their training in a variety of subjects throughout the year.
Care South deliver diploma training to staff from across their care services at their own diploma accredited assessment centre.
The event was held at the RNLI College in Poole, Dorset and was also attended by author and TV presenter Nigel Risner who presented the NVQ and Diploma certificates.
