Developers of a £9m extra care housing scheme, in Burton-upon-Trent, were delighted to welcome HRH The Duke of Gloucester to unveil a plaque at the official opening.
From national contractor Bullock and partners Trent & Dove Housing, Chestnut Grange is made up of 35 one-bedroom and 32 two-bedroom apartments, designed to support an independent lifestyle while allowing residents access to skilled carers.
Regional director Richard Black was delighted with how the opening went as well as the quality of the development, saying: “Chestnut Grange has been very much a partnership in practice between Bullock and Trent & Dove and we are very pleased that The Duke of Gloucester has joined us both to celebrate the opening of this extra care facility.
“Chestnut Grange allows older people to live independently in a home that has been designed and built to meet their specific needs and which will certainly increase the housing options in the area for this age group.”
Alongside comfortable bedrooms, residents can relax in homely lounges, with a restaurant, hairdressing salon and even a media room also on site. An open plan design also incorporates a sensory garden to suit any individuals diagnosed with dementia.
Chairman at Trent & Dove Housing, John Jackson, comments: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to show HRH the future of retirement living in East Staffordshire. Chestnut Grange really is an exceptional place and we are immensely proud of everyone who has worked so hard to make it such a wonderful place to live.
“This event has provided us with an ideal opportunity to thank all involved in this landmark project”.
Bullock continue to see development opportunities in the extra care market, having so far worked on a number of projects with a value in excess of £30m.
