Residents of a County Durham care home are set to receive extra treats thanks to the efforts of a team of staff who put their best feet forward and completed a sponsored walk.
The group from Redworth House, part of the Bondcare Group, raised £450 towards additional day trips by walking around Shildon with residents and their families.
The event was followed by an awards ceremony where participants were rewarded for their efforts with medals and certificates.
Care home manager Joan McNeil said: “We like to go the extra mile for our residents and we really did during the sponsored walk. We were very lucky with the weather and everyone enjoyed a trip out in the fresh air and sunshine.
“The sponsored walk was fantastic as it involved many of our residents and their relatives while raising funds which will be put into great use.”
Redworth House is a purpose-built facility that provides nursing and residential care for elderly people with dementia. It also has a unit for people with learning disabilities.
