The Care Quality Commission (CQC) hopes to recruit around 200 social care professionals to help with its inspection programmes.
The bank inspectors, who will work under the direction of permanent CQC staff, will receive full training in carrying out inspections, making judgements and writing reports, as well as how to deal with whistleblowers and safeguarding issues. They will be contracted to support the delivery of the CQC’s inspection programme for 2013-14, which will deliver around 39,000 inspections.
Those who apply for the role will have to have extensive skills and knowledge in the health and social care sector, and will ideally have a professional qualification or degree.
Malcolm Bower-Brown, regional director at the CQC, said: “Last year CQC used bank inspectors to carry out our annual inspection programme. We have retained many of these staff who will be supporting us again this year.
“With an expanded programme of over 39,000 scheduled inspections between now and March 2014, we are now recruiting a further cohort of bank inspectors to support our work.
“We are looking for experienced health and social care professionals to carry out these inspections this year, focused largely within the adult social care sector.
“Our experience of using bank inspectors for the first time last year was a positive one and we look forward to hearing from anyone who is interested in working with us over the next few months.” For more information or to apply, visit http://www.cqc.org.uk/public/news/become-cqc-inspector.
