A residential home in Aberdeen is one step closer to expanding its services after a donation from a global company.

Simeon Care for the Elderly, which provides care and support to 18 older people, is now able to start a development project on “vital” service thanks to Aberdeen Asset Management, which has offices in 23 countries around the world.

The donation, made through the company’s Charitable Foundation, will be put towards equipment for a new purpose-built care home, which will be built later this year as part of Simeon Care for the Elderly’s expansion.

Gayle Johnston, fundraising manager at the home, said: “Simeon is a truly wonderful place for older people to live – a home where kindness, love and happiness is evident in everyday life. We are now embarking on an exciting development project to make vital service improvements and we are fundraising to make this vision become a reality.

“We are so grateful for Aberdeen Asset Management’s involvement and interest in our charity. Every penny really does count and we cannot thank the company enough for bringing us one step closer to our vision.”

Hugh Little, head of acquisitions at Aberdeen Asset Management, was pleased to be able to support a local business. He said: “Aberdeen Asset Management has its roots in the Granite City – being able to make a difference in the local community is a privilege.”
