A fit fundraiser who conquered Ben Nevis for charity put his best foot forward once again and walked 79 miles in aid of Bield.

Kevin Rowe walked the Great Glen Way

Kevin Rowe raised more than £500 for the charity, which is Scotland’s leading housing and care provider for elderly people, by hiking the Great Glen Way from Fort William to Inverness.

Mr Rowe, who works as a fundraiser at Bield, has now personally raised more than £1,000 for the charity. The money will be used to support people with dementia.

After completing the challenge, he said: “We were very lucky with the weather and it was a fantastic walk. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored us so far, allowing us to raise over £500 to help older people in Scotland.”

Brian Logan, Bield’s chief executive, is proud to see Mr Rowe leading by example. He said: “Recognising the role of fundraisers is very important as they play a crucial role within Bield and Kevin clearly leads by example.

“We are so grateful that Kevin, alongside other Bield staff members, tenants, care givers and their family and friends take the time to raise money for our homes.

“We hope that more people will get involved with fundraising as it is of utmost importance to provide additional services to Bield’s residents.”

Mr Rowe is still collecting donations. If you would like to sponsor him, visit www.justgiving.com/KevRoweGGW2013.
