A fashion chain has raised more than £470,000 for the Alzheimer's Society.

OUTFIT raised the cash during a two-year partnership with the charity, which came to an end in July.

Rob Thomas, general manager of the retailer, thanked customers for their support and said he was “proud” to partner with the Alzheimer’s Society. He said: “Our staff in OUTFIT stores up and down the country were really proud to be supporting Alzheimer’s Society’s vital work so much so that we weren’t ready to end the partnership after just one year.

“Many of our staff and customers’ families have been affected by dementia, and I think that is why everyone showed such passion for the cause and made such an effort to raise as much money as possible. Our staff and customers were hugely supportive and generous and we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated to help with dementia and their carers across the UK.”

Commenting on the partnership, Liz Monks, director of fundraising at the charity, said: “OUTFIT has been a fantastic corporate partner for Alzheimer’s Society and we are proud to have been their chosen charity for the last two years. Our cause really captured the imagination of both staff and customers, resulting in some wonderful fundraising events and an incredible amount of money raised in the fight against dementia.

“One in three people over 65 will develop dementia, so the condition will touch most of our lives at some point. The support of OUTFIT staff and customers has helped Alzheimer’s Society continue to champion the rights of people living with dementia and the millions who care for them.”
