The MP for Scarborough and Whitby took some time out of his busy schedule to present the first ever Excellence in Care Standard award.
Robert Goodwill congratulated staff and chatted with residents during his recent visit to Peregrine House, which is the first care home to win the new accreditation. The award, developed by Excellence Squared Ltd, is a national and international benchmark for recognising care providers that demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement.
Following his visit, Mr Goodwill said: “The first impression on walking in to Peregrine House is that it’s clean and fresh, with an air of busy-ness about the place. There is clearly tremendous compassion in the way the residents are treated. It’s good to have a home like this in the area where relatives can be assured that the residents are cared for better than they could be in their own homes.”
Dave Allan, managing director of Excellence Squared Ltd, also visited the home for the presentation. Congratulating staff on the achievement, he said: “Many congratulations to the team at Peregrine House on achieving the high levels of performance distinguished by the Excellence in Care Standard. It was confirmed by all the people interviewed by the Excellence in Care Standard assessor that Peregrine House truly is a great place to live and a rewarding working environment to staff.”
