Health and social care professionals in Scotland and the north of England can get up-to-date with some of the latest industry innovations for free on the 18 & 19 September, by visiting the Naidex Scotland event at the SECC, Glasgow.

The event has been organised with a strong focus on independent living, care provision for adults with a disability, and the challenges that care professionals face in achieving a quality service.

Partnering with the College of Occupational Therapy, Naidex Scotland welcomes a wide range of product and service exhibitors, looking to showcase some of the latest technological advances, while also including an in-depth conference and seminar programme to discuss some of the latest care legislation and the big questions being posed to care providers in 2013.

Senior health planning manager at NHS Dumfries and Galloway, Vicky Freeman is chairing a debate on Telecare and Telehealth titled ‘The good, the bad and the usual’. Ms Freeman describes the key issues as being:

“How we, as health and care professionals across the whole system of care optimise the benefits for people that the opportunities of technology now afford us;

“How we embed telehealth and telecare into our thinking within service planning and care pathway development,” and;

“How we engage with and involve the public in the discussion and development of telehealth/telecare.”

The ‘most extensive conference programme to date’ also puts the Public Bodies Joint Working Bill under the spotlight, as well as the Social Care (Self-Directed Support, Scotland) Act 2013.

Further to these key discussions, this year Naidex Scotland also has its own Clinical Skills Theatre, where practical skills and advice can be demonstrated by skilled professionals on issues such as physiotherapy and functional electrical simulation.

Event director, Liz Virgo, is delighted that more than 2,600 visitors are already expected to attend, commenting: “Naidex Scotland is always an inspiring show, but this year’s event is set to be the best ever. There’s something for everyone, from products you can take home on the day and advice from supportive services to the best CPD content for health and social care professionals in Scotland.”
