Older people living at Belong villages now have access to specialist dementia care after the provider recruited its first Admiral Nurse.
Caroline Clifton, a mental health nurse who specialises in dementia, has been appointed as part of a new partnership with Dementia UK and will support families and carers of Belong residents, providing advice and support on how best to care for a person living with condition.
She said: “Ever since starting out as a student nurse, I have been working towards realising my ambition of becoming an Admiral Nurse. It is a privilege to be working with carers in the Belong community to improve the quality of life for people with dementia and their families.”
Commenting on the launch of the Admiral Nurse service at Belong, operations director Tracy Paine said: “Every aspect of the Belong village model has been designed around supporting people with dementia, and we are delighted to have formed this new partnership with Dementia UK, which further strengthens our expertise in this field. I know that our staff, families and customers will benefit from the knowledge and experience that Caroline can share.”
