A care home worker has raised £250 for charity by allowing residents to give him a haircut as part of a sponsored head shave.

James Cash works at Braemar Lodge home in Salisbury and will be donating his sponsorship money to Shrewton Cricket Club, which is currently raising funds for a new pitch and clubhouse.

Mr Cash, 20, said: "I can honestly say it was the worst experience of my life. I feel as though I've lost my personality but it's for a good cause.

"The upside is that I'll save lots of money now on hair products, including hair gel, and I've still got my ears intact!"

Residents took it in turns to shave Mr Cash’s hair including 99 year old Dorothy Noyce, who is blind.

Alison Bremner, Braemar Lodge's home manager, congratulated Mr Cash on his fundraising success and said: "James is a great character and very popular with our residents and fellow staff.

"He's a good sport and the head shave was very entertaining although, perhaps, not quite so much for James."

The home is part of Colton Care group, who will also be sponsoring Mr Cash as he joins 11 other cricketers to walk 100 miles to the home of cricket, Lord’s, later in September.
