Staff from the UK’s leading care industry website and care home directory enjoyed a cup of coffee and slice of homemade cake to support Macmillan’s annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is the largest fundraising event on Macmillan Cancer Support’s calendar.

Now in its twenty second year, the event has raised over £75m for the charity, which use the funds to provide practical, medical and financial support to those who are diagnosed with cancer.

Staff at carehome.co.uk, based in Hungerford, Berkshire spent time baking a variety of cakes, from Lemon Drizzle cakes to Pistachio Macarons and came together to donate money for the cancer charity.

Ellie Neville, organiser of the event and marketing manager at the company, said: “I think the initiative has been a great success nationwide because it’s so easy to organise a coffee morning and that’s why it’s such a brilliant idea.

“We love cake here at carehome.co.uk and many members of staff are enthusiastic bakers too, so it was the perfect event for us.

“It’s lovely to be involved in an nationwide event that is going to raise so much money for such a good cause.”

The company raised an impressive £183.35 for the charity which will contribute to the total funds raised by the thousands of coffee mornings.

Throughout the country people have been hosting similar mornings including Macmillan’s charity partner P&O cruises, who invited Strictly Come Dancing Star Craig Revel Horwood onto its ship to launch their 2013 campaign.

Macmillan supporter Mr Revel Horwood, said: “I am delighted to help launch World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and raise awareness for such an amazing charity as Macmillan, particularly as I had so much fun cruising around to do it!”

Last year the event raised a record £15m, with over 115,000 people signing up to attend a coffee morning throughout the country. It is hoped this year will create an even larger amount of crucial funds for the charity.
