A North East family run business is to open its fifteenth care home in Bishop Auckland on Saturday.

Helen McArdle Care has named the new care home, Eden House, after the site on which it was formerly built, the Lady Eden Hospital. The company has invested £3.5 million into the build of the purpose-built facility and is creating 45 jobs in the local area.

Nigel Dawson, Financial Director of Helen McArdle Care said: “It is great to join the community in Bishop Auckland. The planning and design of this home has taken considerable time and it will combine the best of the former Lady Eden Hospital and a brand new purpose built care home.”

The new home, managed by Kelly Watt, boasts ensuite bedrooms with showers, landscaped gardens, a beauty salon, library, plasma screen televisions and 24 hour free wifi for all residents.

Kelly said: “We can’t wait to open our doors at the weekend to meet prospective residents and their families. I have a great team of staff joining me at Eden House and we already have lots of activities and events planned.”

The open day for the new home will be held on Saturday 19 between 11am and 2pm on Cockton Hill Road. Visitors can enjoy a guided tour of the home and refreshments made by the home’s dedicated catering team.
