Brookdale Care, which has been a specialist care provider for people with autism since 2005, is now launching a new nursing home for people with dementia, acquired brain injury and other neurological conditions.

The nursing home will be based in St Neots, Cambridgeshire and is due to open in March 2015.

The home will provide short and long term rehabilitation and long term care for those living with dementia (including early onset), acquired brain injury and a range of other neurological conditions requiring round the clock nursing care.

The new complex care division will be operated separately from Brookdale’s well-established autism division. Managing director Lesa Walton said:“We already have a highly skilled and experienced team that can deliver complex nursing care and rehabilitation, having successfully owned and managed such services for eight years.

“We believe we can provide a first class, home from home, user led service to people who live with the most debilitating health problems, resulting in the requirement for round the clock nursing care.

“With planning permission already granted, we are about to appoint builders. A fundamental part of getting it right from the outset is the research into best, current practice for our proposed user group. It is our intention that this service be second to none, both environmentally and in service delivery.”

The purpose built care centre will offer a total of 81 beds within six separate units and will include a hydrotherapy suite, cinema, shop, hairdressers, library and bistro.

This new service is set to open in March 2015.

Brookdale Care was voted IHA (Independent Healthcare Apex) Major Specialist Care Provider of the Year 2013 for the work it does with people with autism.
