Construction starts this month on a £3.8million care home in Deeping St James, near Peterborough, that will offer care for older people as well as those living with dementia.
The care home is being built by construction experts Bullock and will be operated by one of the UK’s largest healthcare providers, Barchester Healthcare.
Constructed to Barchester’s high specification and due for completion in November 2014, the two-storey building, which includes 60 en-suite bedrooms, will provide person-centred care and living spaces designed specifically for older people and those living with dementia.
The build will also be constructed to comply with BREEAM excellent for energy standards and will incorporate energy-saving measures that include a combined heat-and-power unit for greater energy efficiency. The local community is also expected to benefit from 100 permanent jobs that will be created when the care home opens next year.
Speaking about the construction, Duncan Williams, regional director at Bullock said: “We are delighted to add Deeping St James to our portfolio of high specification care homes and to continue our relationship with Barchester Healthcare.
“This is the second build we’ve worked on this year with Barchester Healthcare –having only recently completed construction on the Lancaster Grange care home in Newark – and we’re confident our shared approach to the delivery of high-quality care construction will deliver a best in class care home.”
Kenneth Mackenzie, development director at Barchester Healthcare said: “We are committed to providing person-centred care and designing living spaces that are second to none for older people and those living with dementia. We are pleased to be collaborating with all our partners – Bullock, Cinnamon Care Capital and Larkpoint – to deliver a high-quality home that will not only benefit those needing personalised care, but will also significantly boost the local economy through job creation.”
The Bullock head office is based in the West Midlands with regional offices spread across England and Wales. The company employs approximately 450 people and has more than 55 years’ experience delivering refurbishment and new build projects across both the domestic and commercial property sectors.
The Deeping St James scheme is being purchased by Cinnamon Care Capital, a UK healthcare investment fund specialising in senior care and senior living properties.
