Residents at a Sanctuary Care home in Weston-super-Mare will be wishing each other Kung Hei Fat Choy next week when they celebrate Chinese New Year.

Residents at Beach Lawns Residential and Nursing Home on Beach Road will be seeing in the Chinese New Year with an afternoon of themed activities on Saturday 1 February.

To celebrate the most important day in the Chinese calendar, residents have been busy making beautiful paper lanterns and a giant dragon to hang from the ceiling, as well as learning more about the traditions associated with Chinese New Year and writing each other happy messages to put in red envelopes.

The home’s catering team has also prepared a mouth-watering menu filled with delicious Chinese food.

The home’s manager Richard Sayer said: “We are really looking forward to celebrating Chinese New Year at Beach Lawns - our residents and team have worked really hard preparing for it, building and decorating the dragon centrepiece.”
