Managers of care homes are being urged to participate in a survey about the assessment of stroke survivors in care homes.

The structured assessment of stroke survivors' needs has been recommended by clinical practice guideline issued in the UK yet it is not clear to what extent this is being done.

The Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford is carrying out the study to find out what the situation is in care homes and how stroke survivors’ needs are being met as residents there often present greater complexity and dependency.

A spokesman for ENRICH (Enabling Research In Care Homes), an initiative run by Dementia and Neurodegenerative Diseases Research Network (DeNDRoN), said: "Through the ENRICH Research Ready Care Home Network and toolkit we support research in a range of areas. We are pleased to be supporting the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford, who invite you to participate in a survey about stroke reviews in primary care and care homes."

The study is being funded by the National Institute for Health Research’s School for Primary Care Research Grant.
