As part of its plan to open ten new care homes in the Suffolk area in 2014 and 2015, Care UK has celebrated the opening of Milden Lodge in Mildenhall.

The care home has been designed and built to ensure residents can continue to receive personalised care as their needs develop or increase over time, without the need to be hospitalised or moved to another care home.

Inside Milden Lodge there is a cinema, hairdressers, a hobbies room and a café for residents to visit and landscaped gardens can be easily accessed by people whatever their level of mobility.

Andrew Knight, managing director of residential care services at Care UK, said: “The opening of Mildenhall Lodge is a major milestone in Care UK’s partnership with Suffolk County Council which is transforming the facilities and services for the care of older people in the county.

“The care home is furnished and equipped to provide the highest levels of safety and comfort so residents can enjoy living as independently as possible and we very much look forward to the first residents moving in and to welcoming the first customers at the Mildenhall Club.”

As well as the luxury care home, Care UK has built The Mildenhall Club, available for older people who want to access day services or respite care and continue to live in their own home.

Older people visiting The Mildenhall Club will now be able take part in activities, pursue hobbies and receive nutritional meals at the club seven days a week.

The care home was officially opened by Councillor Alan Murray, Suffolk County Council’s cabinet member for health and adult care, who was joined by community groups and members of the public and given a guided tour around the care home.

He said: “The opening of Mildenhall Lodge is the start of us realising the vision we had for the future of long term care in Suffolk. The new home and club boast great facilities and with its friendly and welcoming design I am sure that the residents will be extremely pleased with their new home.

“With the number of older people and those suffering with dementia in Suffolk set to double by 2030 it was essential that we found a provider that was able to invest in and run homes and clubs that provided the highest quality of care for Suffolk residents – Care UK has demonstrated that it is more than up to the job.”
