This week, Yr 12 Health and Social Care students were fortunate enough to be welcomed at Hurstwood View Care Home in Five Ash Down, for a tour of the facilities and a discussion about the first class provision given to residents.
This information will considerably help students with their ‘Caring for Older People’ and ‘Dementia Care’ units. Hurstwood View staff took time to demonstrate the functioning of one of the bath hoists, as shown in the picture.
During the visit, staff answered a whole range of our questions about the key aspects of caring for the elderly and the specialised care given to those who suffer from dementia. At the end of the visit, students and their tutors were able to sample the excellent refreshments provided.
